If you saw an ad for something that seemed too good to be true but it interested you, how could you find out if it was true?

I usually think that if something is too good to be true that is because it really is. I don't like to dawdle too much, unless of course it completely captured my attention(most unlikely). However, if that was the case I would ask a close person's opinion before even beginning to look it up. If that person thinks it might be good or at least a bit useful I would then go and find out more about it. I would most probably go online because to me that is the easiest way to research anything that I want. I would go and read the product reviews and decide if it was worth it or not. I usually would eventually decide its wasteful anyway. Probably just to save my laziness from actually going out and getting it. I don't usually like ads that advertise bulky things that you can use once and just leaving hanging around your place for no apparent reason.
